Send a piece

For authors whose application has been approved. If yours has not been, or you have not applied, start at the application — this page needs a token that only approval issues.

Sending a piece does not publish it, and nothing written here reaches the register. A post may cite any number of records; no post alters, annotates or re-tiers one. That separation is structural — post_notices points from a post to a record and offers no path in the other direction.
Who is sending it

The one issued when your application was approved. We hold only its hash, so we cannot look it up or send it again — if it is lost, write to us and we will issue another.

The piece

One sentence saying what the piece argues. Up to 300 characters.

The bounds are enforced, not suggested. A comment shorter than its floor is a social media post; a piece longer than its ceiling is the other form.

Plain text. Paragraph breaks are kept; markup is not interpreted anywhere this is later shown.

What it cites

Alert ids from the register, separated however you like. Each one is checked before your piece is accepted: a reference we do not hold is named back to you rather than quietly dropped. Citing nothing is allowed and is not a lesser piece.

Submitting does not publish. An editor reads every piece against the records it cites, and the standards say what that means. A published piece can be withdrawn later, and if it is, it keeps its URL and says why in place of the body.
